Design Process

Design Research

Led workshops to shape onboarding for Salesforce’s new AI features, creating engaging first-time experiences with Assistant and Einstein Voice.

Workshop Ideation

Gathered ideas, sketches, and past experiences to reimagine onboarding, positioning the Assistive Panel as a personalized, hands-on alternative to traditional tools.

Take Aways

The Assistive Panel enhances onboarding with a structured, personalized intro to Einstein, tailored by user persona. The strategy aligns stakeholders on goals/KPIs, leverages user research, and coordinates cross-functional content and training. Design approaches include gamification, nudges, and personalized resources across initial, highlight, and ongoing stages.

Design Iterations – v1

  • First-time: Welcome Mat intro → right-rail product tour + disclaimer → interactive walkthrough with examples and practice.

  • Long-term: Directly engage with walkthroughs for new features.
Both groups receive nudges if features go unused.

Iteration 1: user Journey

Iteration 1 Design: Introduction

Iteration 1 Design: Product tour and Interative Walkthrough

Design Iterations – v2
Feedback emphasized product-led onboarding, avoiding 3D characters, and clarifying disclaimer rules. Updates included:

  • Unified walkthrough: core Copilot + cloud-specific features.

  • Onboarding fully embedded within Copilot.

  • Replaced 3D Einstein with product icons.

  • Two disclaimer options: blocked vs. unblocked access.

Iteration 2: user Journey

Iteration 2 Design

Design Iterations – v3
Round 2 feedback confirmed that users must accept the disclaimer before access. I expanded the flow into four sections:

  • Welcome: Greeting, Copilot intro, and disclaimer.

  • Global Onboarding: Reusable pattern to trigger and use Copilot; teaches effective prompts.

  • Role-Based Templates: Tailored by role, permissions, and product, with examples for guidance.

  • Resources: Videos, articles, and Trailhead modules to support continued learning and exploration.

Result and Impact

Successful Transition: Designs were handed off to the development team and implemented with a comprehensive onboarding experience.

Personalized Onboarding: Cloud teams adopted tailored approaches for Gen AI features, driving daily engagement with Einstein Copilot.

Ongoing Refinements: The onboarding team continues to enhance the experience using my design proposals, including videos and Trailhead resources for user learning.
